ESCE INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS VISIT EL CORTE INGLÉS AS PART OF IPS SUSTAINABILITY WEEK

As part of the Polytechnic University of Setúbal (IPS) Sustainability Week, teachers from the School of Business and Administration (ESCE/IPS), in collaboration with El Corte Inglés, organized a study visit for Erasmus+ mobility students.

The initiative provided participants with an opportunity for direct contact with business practices in sustainability, innovation and management in the retail and services sector, bridging the gap between the knowledge acquired in an academic setting and the reality of the workplace.

During the visit to the El Corte Inglés premises in Lisbon, the students attended various presentations given by company professionals, who explained the strategies and initiatives developed in the field of corporate sustainability. The programme also included a guided tour of the store’s supermarket, allowing them to observe concrete measures to reduce waste, optimize resources and promote practices in line with European sustainability and environmental neutrality objectives.

The activity also allowed international students to get a closer look at examples of good business practices developed in Portugal, contributing to a deeper understanding of the challenges and opportunities associated with the sustainable management of organizations.

This initiative reflects ESCE/IPS commitment to international training geared towards contemporary challenges, promoting experiences that strengthen the link between academia and the business community. By providing direct contact with organizations that integrate sustainability into their business strategies, we contribute to the development of essential skills for training professionals capable of responding to the economic and environmental challenges of the future.
